ShotFusion How-To

A quick overview of features and workflow to get you started

Group Analysis

Group Analysis Workflow

  1. Specify your caliber (bullet diameter) and distance to target.
  2. Take or upload an image of the target.
  3. Rotate or crop as needed for proper alignment.
  4. Mark two points with a known distance (like a 1" grid) to establish scale for the image.
  5. Place the red crosshair at your point of aim. Note: if you had a dialed-in POA offset, enter the offset values before placing the crosshair.
  6. Mark all impacts and hit Done.

Group Analysis Results

Group Analysis Results include an overlay with statistical outputs, a summary of the results, a plot of Radial Error, and a plot with predicted group sizes based on the analyzed group. The image background can be toggled on/off, and the background and overlay elements can be switched between dark and light mode.

Group Analysis Results

Group Combination

Combine multiple individual groups into a single, large-sample composite group. This is an easy way to increase confidence in the statistical outputs and characterize the true precision of your rifle-ammo system.

Group Combination

Velocity Analysis

Enter the average, SD, and number of shots, and it calculates the confidence intervals and the expected future distribution of velocities using the t-distribution. Multiple velocity analyses can be combined in the same way as groups.

Logbook Creation

To create a logbook card, select a cartridge and a rifle, select between Factory and Hand Load, and enter a name for the card. Cartridges and Rifles can be added, edited and removed in the "Manage Cartridges" and "Manage Rifles" section.

Logbook Creation

Logbook Details

Add details about the load. All input fields are optional. Group and Velocity analyses can be linked to a logbook card and will show up in the card's page, along with a performance summary of that load. Swipe left on a card to create a copy or to delete it.

Group Comparison

Select 2 - 5 group analyses or cards with linked groups to create a group comparison analysis. The results include a plot with the expected distribution of mean radius for each group being compared, the probability of one group being more precise than the other, and an analysis of POI (point of impact) shift. If comparing 3 or more groups, the result shows a ranking of expected precision, and a pairwise comparison option.

Velocity Comparison

Select 2 - 5 velocity analyses or cards with linked velocity data to create a velocity comparison analysis. The results include a plot with the expected distribution of standard deviation for each velocity set being compared, and the probability of one set being more consistent than the other. If comparing 3 or more velocity sets, the result shows a ranking of expected consistency, and a pairwise comparison option.

Hit Probability Analysis

To create a new Hit Probability analysis, select an existing group analysis and velocity analysis, or select a load card that has group and velocity analyses linked to it. Enter target geometry details, range, and the Ballistic Coefficient of your bullet (G1 or G7). If enabled, enter BC dispersion (bullet-to-bullet variation in the ballistic coefficient), wind speed and direction, and the uncertainty in the wind speed and direction. Once all inputs have been entered, the Run Simulation button is enabled and will appear blue. Tap this button to run the simulation and generate results.

Hit Probability Result

Results include a hit probability percentage, the 95% confidence bounds of horizontal and vertical dispersion, and a visual point cloud of the simulated impacts in and around the target. The More Information section provides select ballistic outputs at mean conditions, such as the velocity at target, total drop, and total drift. These can be used to compare ShotFusion's outputs against independent ballistic solver outputs.

Settings Menu

Toggle on/off various overlay options in group analysis, and select preferred units. The unit system is dynamic and applies universally throughout the app. Units can be changed before/during/after running any analysis, and the values adapt accordingly.
